Sir,

With reference to your communication of the 18th instant, No. 90638 I, in which you transmitted copy of a telegram from H. M. Consul General at San Francisco relative to the export of Peanut Oil from Hong Kong to San Francisco, I am instructed by the Director of the War Trade Department to state for the information of Lord Robert Cecil that this Department has no objection to the export of the commodity in question in reasonable quantities, provided the produce is of foreign origin.

A copy of this letter is being sent to the Colonial Office.
